Movie Quotes (Part 1)

I just LOVE movie quotes. You know, there's something special about them. Whenever I watch I film, I feel as if my vocabulary has broadened. And that's always a good thing. Today I'd like to share with you quotes from 3 very different films: Cool Hand Luke, Roman Holiday, and A Place in the Sun.

This movie definitely occupies a special place in my heart. After this particular film I became very much interested in Newman's career.I must admit that this is my favourite film with Mr Paul Newman.

Luke (on why he was cutting the heads off parking meters): Small town. Not much to do in the evening.

Luke (alone in the church, talking to God, as police lights begin flashing): is that your answer, old man? Well, I guess you're a hard case too.

Dragline: He was smiling.. That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't gonna beat him. The old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker.

And I justhad to include the song.. Oh, that song was so touching, so real, so heartfelt, so sincere..

2.  Roman Holiday (1953)

Who hasn't seen 'Roman Holiday'? It's one of those iconic films that cannot be forgotten.

Princess Ann: I've never been alone with a man before, even with my dress on. With my dress off, it's most unusual.

Princess Ann: Is this the elevator?
Joe Bradley: This is my room!!!

Joe Bradley: Irving! Am I glad to see you!
Irving Radovich: Why? Did you forget your wallet?

Joe Bradley: Now, come on. You're not that durnk.
Princess Ann: (laughing) If you're so smart I'm not drunk at all. I'm just being (her head falls against his chest) very happy...

I don't know why, but I absolutely love the haircut scene. She's so cute in it.

I came across this film when I just finished reading Theodore Dreiser's novel 'An American Tragedy'. I must admit that the book was better, but the movie did the best it could. Here are some of my favourite lines.

George Eastman: I love you. I've loved you since the first moment I saw you. I guess maybe I've even loved you before I saw you.

Charles Eastman: If he's innocent, I'll get the best defence I can get for him. If he is quilty, I won't spend a single cent to save him from the electric chair.

Prisoner in George's cell block: (said to George as he walks to the electric chair) Good-bye, George. I'll be seing you.

Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor had the most AMAZING chemistry together.
