The One and Only - Paul Newman

Paul Newman... An ordinary boy from Cleveland, Ohio. A Hollywood legend. The man with the most beautiful blue eyes in movie history. Every woman loved him. But was he just a cute face? Or was he a real, genuine actor?

I personally admire both, Mr. Newman himself and the art he left for us. He starred in dozens of Hollywood motion pictures, has an Oscar for The Color of Money (1986). However, my personal favourite will always be Cool Hand Luke! He gave an incredibly moving and touching performance. He played a character, who didn't want to give in. He was against the system. But we all know the end was terribly tragic. But 'Cool Hand Luke' is not the only masterpiece of Mr. Newman for me. I love and admire his other pictures: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958), The Hustler (1961), The Verdict (1982), Road to Perdition (2002). Paul has been in the film industry for more that half a century, and that is hard work!

I don't know, but there is something special about the classical hollywood era.. It was a unique time! So many icons, so many tragic stories, so much of everything. How I'd love to travel in time and find myself in the 50s for at least a day.. Have a chat with Audrey, play pool with Paul, admire Marilyn's beauty. All those people are real stars. They shaped the modern film industry in so many ways. It was a time of real glamour, real beauty. Therefore, I love the Hollywood Golden Age.

And Paul Newman was an incredibly important part of all that. He not only acted, he directed films, lived with his wife, Joanne Woodward, for more that 50 years, he was a philanthropist. All the money he earned from 'Newman's Own' he donated to various charities all over the wold. I thinks it's an incredibly noble deed to do that. Yes, he had enough finances from the film industry, but not all actors do charity. And I believe he did that because he understood that people in need require that money more that he does. He did it for a great cause. And no one can deny the fact that apart from being a movie legend, Paul was an incredibly caring and compassionate human being. I'm sure that his wife and children are indefinitely proud of him. Paul Newman, both, a talented actor and a person with a big and kind heart.
